Post-baccalaureate Certification
The College of Education offers a university based certification program, not an alternative certification program. Students who hold a bachelor’s degree from TCU may achieve teacher certification through this program and Extended Education on TCU campus. Currently, TCU does not offer undergraduate teacher certification to post-baccalaureate students who did not graduate from TCU.
For post-baccalaureate teacher certification, the student must have a teaching field on their existing transcript that meets state requirements which have prepared the student to teach the chosen subject. The student's transcript must show 24 semester hours of a middle school or secondary school subject, 12 of those hours being upper division, to teach that subject in a middle or secondary classroom. In addition, completion of education coursework is required for certification.
