Certification
Texas law requires every person seeking educator certification to perform satisfactorily on comprehensive examinations. The purpose of these examinations is to ensure that each educator has the necessary content and professional knowledge to perform satisfactorily in Texas public schools. All teacher education program candidates applying for Texas certification after graduation must pass the state certification exam in their chosen content or teaching field and must pass a pedagogy and professional responsibility exam at the appropriate level – EC-6 (Early Childhood through 6th grade), Middle School (grades 4-8), Secondary School (grades 8-12) or All-Level (EC-12).
Successful performance Principal and Superintendent state examiniations are also required.
